5 no-nonsense self-help books

I hate whishy washy self-help books. Books that tell you there is a magic pill to lose weight, or a new secret to improve your finances. The truth usually comes down to plain old hard work when it comes to either of those.

I don’t like being lied to just like most people. I would rather be told the truth cause I know even if it hurts, in the long run, I’ll be better off with a cold bucket of truth rather than a bucket full of fake flowers that tell me everything is going to be ok. Honesty in writing and in life are always the best policy. So… Here are some swift kicks in the pants if you feel you need them.

5) The 10X author, by Sean M. Platt and Johnny Truant

If you are looking for an easy fix with your author business, don’t read this book. There are no gimmicks to becoming an author with a living wage or better. Unless you count hard work as a gimmick.

4) Stop Doing That Sh*t, by Gary John Bishop

If you are looking for light nudges to get you to go in the right direction, look away, my friend, look away. Gary John Bishop cares nothing for your inner dialog that tells you are special. Want some truth? Want some motivation to get things done? Get this book. I suggest the audio version. He has a cool Scottish accent.

3) Own the Day, Own Your Life, by Aubrey Marcus

Aubrey Marcus is the owner of ONNIT. A company that uses supplements and technique to get total human optimization. This book is an easy to use guide on how to go about your day, so you can use every minute for furthering your life to bigger and better things.

2) BOLD: How to go Big, Create Wealth, and Impact the World, by Peter H. Diamandis and Steven Kotler

Think big! This book shows you how to make huge dreams a reality. Your dreams are not working because they are not big enough, my friend. This book explores moonshot thinking, big money ideas, and changing the world for the better.

1 ) Crushing It, by Gary Vaynerchuk

No one is going to give it to you straight like Gary V. One of the biggest take-home ideas I got from this book is, DON’T CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK! People are always going to call you crazy, or stupid. Screw um. Do it anyway.

That’s my list for this week. It is my list at this current time. I’ve read plenty of books about how to be better and I’m sure you have to. These are my picks right now.

Thanks for reading!
